Tangara peruviana on Live Cam 1

After the first Golden-chevroned Tanager Thraupis ornata of the season showed itself this morning, and Chestnut-bellied Euphonia Euphonia pectoralis was seen on Live Cam 2, a beautiful male Black-backed Tanager Tangara peruviana made an appearance. This species brought world birders Jon and Anne King to Luciano’s yard last weekend.

Green Honeycreeper is back

It’s good to see so many birds have returned to Ornithos Live Cams.

Today the first female Green Honeycreeper of the season made several appearances on Live Cam 2.
Earlier this week a male Black-backed Tanager Tangara peruviana was seen on Live Cam 1 and Scaled Chachalaca Ortalis squamata and Plain Parakeet Brotogeris tirica as well.

Ornithos Update

Dear Ornithos friends.

In a couple of months I will complete 4 years streaming live images of birds from the Atlantic Rainforest in Brazil.

During that time I had many problems to keep the cameras online, to build the website, and to bring more cams showing the amazing birds from South America.

Problems still happening from time to time. But I keep working to improve the website and the transmissions. It is not easy to do so with little time and few resources.

But I believe it’s important. Not everybody can travel to see the birds for themselves. Kids at school or at home can learn with the live cams and fall in love with nature. And they sure will become advocates of nature.

But I can’t make everybody happy. Actually it seems that I can’t make one person happy as I had complains from just one person in four years.

Now this person is saying bad things about Ornithos Website… in his own words “I am spreading the word in other cams to avoid your site because it contains computer viruses and the moderators are rude.”

Well … obviously this is not true. Ornithos website is hosted on a server based in USA and Brazil. And if a problem with virus was detected, the server itself would report the problem and would take the site down. And all of you can go to chat and talk to the moderators yourself.

But to make sure of that I would like to ask all viewers to send me a message if any problem is detected.

I would also like to thank you all who already watched the live cams. It’s your visit that makes the website goes on.
